The Ladybirds get out and about during Ladybird Live!

It was all hands on deck as Ladybird hit the North East for the first Ladybird Live tour of 2013.
At every Ladybird Live event, the library was packed with preschoolers and their parents, snuggled down on gorgeous giant Ladybird beanbags*, enjoying fantastic storytelling, imagination and fun!

James, our wonderful professional storyteller, really brought the stories to life; he was dressed as Captain Cutlass – Ladybird's very own pirate from the Skullabones Island books  – and there were cries of 'Ah Ha Me Hearties' filling the room as the little ones went on a journey with him, sailing the high seas, singing songs, searching for buried treasure through telescopes and joining in swashbuckling activities!!

*sorry, the bean bags are not for sale, but we do have one up for grabs in our prize draw below.

As well as storytelling, we kept the little ones busy with face-painting and wonderful arts and crafts, while Ladybird experts were on hand to give parents and carers advice and tips on reading with their children.

Trunki provided some amazing prizes for the raffle and some very happy winners, including those (very sweet) best dressed Ladybirds, rode away on their Trunki travel cases.

Our next tour takes place during the week of 10-15 of June and will be at various libraries in the North West. If you would like to attend, click here to find your nearest event and to find out more details.

ooh I think it would be The Teddy Bears Picnic – the ladybird would remind us of being outdoors on a warm summers day

My two children love the classic little red ridding hood story. I’d love to snuggle up with them on Ladybird beanbag and read it along with many of their other favourites 🙂

It would have to be Skullabones Island: A Week of Pirate Tales. I get to use my ‘quality’ Jack Sparrow voice reading this…which is always a great pleasure 😉

My boys and I would snuggle up and read my eldest’s current favourite book which is ‘My Many Coloured Days’ by Dr Seuss.

Hi, I will snuggle up to my 4 year old son and 5 year old daughter to read ‘The Rainbow Fish’ by Marcus Pfister, a modern classic about sharing and making friends. Great teaching for a brother and sister who don’t always want to share! I am regisering as a childminder soon and the children I care for will love hearing stories on the beanbag.

We’d read Mr Underbed by Chris Riddell. Good when he’s 3, will still be great when he’s 30. Thanks!
